it's almost
time for war.
Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.
She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.
Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.
In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.

My
thoughts:
holy crap.
holy shit.
holy freaking
moly.
PERFECTION.
“I want to be
the friend you fall hopelessly in love with. The one you take into your arms
and into your bed and into the private world you keep trapped in your head. I
want to be that kind of friend,” he says. “The one who will memorize the things
you say as well as the shape of your lips when you say them. I want to know
every curve, every freckle, every shiver of your body, Juliette—”
Let me tell you a story about a girl who got her copy
of Unravel Me at 8 PM on its release
day. She was reading Opal by Jennifer
L. Armentrout, but dropped it at 50% – like it wasn’t a volume of her favorite
series -- to just read the long-awaited sequel to the gorgeous dystopian book
named Shatter Me. She read and read
and read. She was forced into eating dinner by some of her relatives.
Frustrated that her freaking iPad was low on battery. Angry that she had to go
to school the following morning. Still, she read with the tablet connected to
the power outlet. In a very uncomfortable sitting position right on the floor,
I might add. And she read. ‘Til 3AM. One second she was in the middle of a war
and in the next one she simply stared with her mouth hanging open at the word
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS.
That girl was awed. Mind-blown. Speechless.
That girl was me.
So I excuse in advance for all the fangirling and
rambling in this attempt at a review.
But if you still want to hear – ahem,
read – what I have to say, here goes nothing. J
When I started the book.
My heart breaking for Adam.
Me starting to love Omega Point and its people – most of
all Kenji.
When Warner is FINALLY
back.
Me wanting to kill Anderson.
Kick ass Juliette gets some action.
When twists and turns start dropping everywhere.
Me falling in love with Warner all over again.
THE INFAMOUS CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Le sigh
Chapter 62 – it’s worth double mentioning.
*hyperventilating*
My heart dying for Warner.
Me wanting to kill Anderson.
Crying like a baby for Juliette and Warner. And did I
mention killing Anderson?
When the book ended.
So that’s about it. K I
think.
Juliette is so much stronger at the end of the book
and I connected with her on a more deep level than I did in Shatter Me. I felt
her confusion, her hurt, her sadness, her anger, her love and her ambition. She
enters this novel as a depressed teenage girl with a lot on her mind, soul and
shoulders, but she transforms into a great woman who’s ready to make the ones
she hates pay. She’ll want revenge. And I’m sure she’s going to deliver it in
the third book. But on a physic level, she starts to control her powers and
realises that it’s more consuming than anything she ever felt. And for the
first time, she accepts all of it and uses it to protect the ones she cares
about. She’s definitely changed into a model and I adore her. A truly amazing and
badass heroine.
But now on the love-triangle. This well written love
triangle makes you pull your hair, cry and sob, sometimes strangle Juliette,
and then support your favorite candidate to Juliette’s heart until the end of
this action-packed journey.
We find out a lot more about Adam in this book, but I
still felt just a mild affection towards him. He was really depressing and
exasperating at times, maybe even cheesy, but the guy is going through a lot,
so he’s forgiven.
“The man is
moody as hell.”
“I am not moody—”
“Yeah, bro.” Kenji puts his utensils down. “You are moody. It’s always ‘Shut up, Kenji.’ ‘Go to sleep, Kenji.’ ‘No one wants to see you naked, Kenji.’ When I know for a fact that there are thousands of people who would love to see me naked—”

But he’s definitely not my favorite.
“It's just a whisper of a
kiss but something collapses in my skull. It's a feather-light brush of his
mouth against my skin in a place I can't quite see. It's my mind speaking in a
thousand different languages I don't understand.”

My favorite is … *drumrolls
please*… Aaron freaking Warner. I
LOOOOOOOVE HIM!!! The broken bad boy, shattered because of how his cruel
father raised him. The one that loves Juliette so deeply and so intense that
you’ll fall in love with him no matter what. Not even if you’re on Team Adam. He’s
making his way into your heart and he plays on staying. Sure, he’s very
damaged, but that makes him more worthy of affection. Of love. Of Juliette’s
love. Speaking of that, the sizzling chemistry between Warner and Juliette Is
un-freaking-belivable! HOT. SENSUAL. CONSUMING.
PERFECT. They are perfect for
each other.
“I want so
many things,” he whispers. “I want your mind. Your strength. I want to be worth
your time.” His fingers graze the hem of my top and he says “I want this up.”
He tugs on the waist of my pants and says “I want these down.” He touches the
tips of his fingers to the sides of my body and says, “I want to feel your skin
on fire. I want to feel your heart racing next to mine and I want to know it’s
racing because of me, because you want me. Because you never,” he says, he
breathes, “never want me to stop. I want every second. Every inch of you. I
want all of it.”
I’m actually quite curious about how many supporters
will Adam still have after this book. Muhaha
*grins*
The secondary characters were incredibly built. Kenji,
Castle, James, Brendan, Winston, the girls… They were amazing and I loved every
single one of them.
What else do we
have in this read? We have bombs with shocking news that will change
many things placed everywhere. Great villain in the face of the Reestablishment’s
grand supreme Anderson, Warner’s father. You’ll want to kill him for several
reasons. Also, if you didn’t enjoy all the striking and methapors in the first
book, you don’t have to worry about it because it isn’t used as frequently –
Juliette’s mind is getting more focused and she is pulling herself together piece by
piece.
“Sticks and
stones keep breaking my bones but these words, these words will kill me.”
Mafi’s lyrical writing is still as mesmerizing as ever
and the world building is phenomenal. The story is utterly addictive with an
atmosphere that has you on the edge of your seat constantly and great action-packed
moments. On the verge of war, the stakes are higher and nothing can be risked.
Unravel Me is
like a drug full of romance, violence and overwhelming emotions. You’ll cry,
you’ll laugh, you’ll fall in love. And you’ll be left gasping for more, because there is one damn of a cliffhanger.
So I need to say this:
BRAVO, MISS MAFI! BRAVO. SPECTACULAR JOB! *bowing*
If you haven’t read the first book yet, I don’t even
know why the hell are you still reading this review! Grab it ASAP! And I
strongly recommend reading the Destroy Me
novella told from Warner’s POV-- fantastic insight in his mind. Oh, and I have
one last thing to say: Unravel Me is one of my all time-favorite novels, and my
favorite dystopian book! Sorry, Divergent,
Hunger Games, Uglies, Matched and all the other dystopian stories. You’re
kindly asked to step back because the queen is in the house ©
ENJOY! ©
P.S.: Just
