1. Please, tell us your name, the city you are born and the books you write.
Hello! I’m Crystal Collier, an author born in sunny California, now inhabiting the land of perpetual sunshine. (AKA Florida.) I write primarily for Young Adults with a paranormal twist, but have also been published in inspirational compilations and had a few theatrical/musical works performed on stage. I’m a cheese addict, home schooling mom, and believer that dreams can come true.2. How did you become a writer?
I started telling stories with drawings when I was 3, progressing to the written word at the age of 8, moving into music composition, theater and film scripting by the age of 13.
3. Who inspired you to write?
I’ve always written, but I had a teacher in 3rd grade, Mrs. Turner, who saw my burgeoning talents and really encouraged them. Every time we came back from recess, she gave us five minutes to complete a writing prompt, and I still have every single one.
4. How old were you when you wrote the first book?
Eight. I completed my first novella at the age of 11, and first full novel at 22. I think for many writers, that first novel is the largest and most difficult hurdle.
5. Your favorite books?
My Friend the Monster, Odd Thomas, Jane Eyre, The Windrose Chronicles, Searching for Dragons, Captain Flinn and The Pirate Dinosaurs, David Copperfield, The Giving Tree, Maniac Magee, The Whipping Boy… Shall I go on? The list is a long one.
6. What inspired you to write Moonless?
Some stories have a life of their own. Moonless started as a dream with two key words: Blue eyes. The characters wanted to live, and they literally told me their story of self-sacrifice, overcoming the odds, and building your own reality.
7. A message for your fans? Dare to dream, fight for what really matters to you, and if all else fails, eat cheese and be happy.
