Interviu cu Darynda Jones!

EN: My first question is - Will there be a new series from you, soon?  If so, what would it be about?  

There will be, actually! Most are YA. I have exactly 27 plans for new YA series. LOL, okay, I probably have more than that, but yes, I do have lots of projects in the works. Out of the 27 projects I’m actively working on (it’s ridiculous, I know), I’d say 25 of those are YA. I might even bump a couple of them up to New Adult, which is like YA, but the protagonists are a tad older and face a different set of developmental issues, like moving out on their own for the first time, paying bills, going to college or getting a job. They can also get a bit steamier. Steam is good. 

There’s a spin-off series in the works for the Charley Davidson world.   I’m really excited about it, but I have to admit, it will be quite a while before anything hits the shelves. I’m not 100% certain how to pull off what I’m trying to pull off. LOL. But I started setting up the spinoff in Fifth Grave. Sixth Grave will see a huge leap in that direction. Then I have a short story due in December for a horror anthology.

 

RO: Prima mea intrebare este – Va mai fi o noua serie de la tine in curand? Daca da, despre ce va fi vorba ?
Vor mai fi! Majoritatea sunt YA. Am exact 27 de planuri pentru noi serii YA. LOL, okay, probabil am mai multe decat atatea, dar da, am o gramada de proiecte. Din cele 27 de proiecte, lucrez in momentul de fata la (e ridicol, stiu) la cam 25 dintre cele care sunt YA. S-ar putea chiar sa le majorez pe unele la New Adult, care e ca YA, dar protagonistii sunt un picut mai batrani si se confrunta cu un set diferit de probleme, precum mutarea pe cont propriu pentru prima data, platirea cheltuielilor, mersul la colegiu sau cautarea de joburi. Acestea pot sa fie un pic mai "fierbinti". Fierbinte e bun.

Exista un spin-off al seriei Charley Davidson. Sunt foarte entuziasmata de el, dar trebuie sa recunosc, va trece mult timp pana sa vada rafturile. Nu sunt 100% sigura cum scot ceea ce incerc sa scot. LOL. Dar am inceput sa aranjez cadrul pentru spinoff in Fifth Grave. Sixth Grave va aprofunda directia aceea. Apoi mai am o poveste scurta care va iesi in Decembrie pentru o antologie horror.

EN: My second question is -- What's next for Charley and Reyes?  But only if you could give us a little spoiler.

Chaos. Mayhem. Upheaval. The usual Charley/Reyes fare, with one very special twist. That would be the spoiler I can’t give you, but you will figure it out by the end of Sixth Grave, I promise. I just turned it in fact, Sixth Grave on the Edge. I will have revisions and then copyedits, etc., for that. It is set to release in May. The minute revisions turned in, it’s on to Seventh Grave Preposition to be Determined.

Haos. Revolta. Obisnuitele aventuri ale lui Charley si Reyes, dar cu o foarte speciala intorsatura de situatie. Acela ar fi spoilerul pe care nu pot sa vi-l dezvalui, dar va veti dea seama pana la sfarsitul lui Sixth Grave, va promit. De fapt, doar ce am predat Sixth Grave on the Edge. Voi avea revizuiri si editari etc. E setata sa se lanseze in Mai. Dupa ce termin cu acestea, voi trece la Seventh Grave.

EN: And my third question is: What's your vision of Reyes and Charley?  Any actor, model, random guy/girl? We would like to have a vision of Reyes and Charley when we read the books.

My newest Charley is actually the best friend in the movie Warm Bodies. Her name is Analeigh Tipton, and though she’s kind of young for the role, I think she’d be perfect. I don’t really see Reyes as any actor per se, but I can definitely see him being played by Jason Behr. I had him in mind for the high school scene in First Grave. I’ve thought about this off and on and my answers usually change.  Tyler Hoechlin would be a good choice too. I’ve always seen Cookie as Melissa McCarthy. I designed her after Melissa when she played Sookie in the Gilmore Girls, and I have a hard time envisioning anyone else. Donovan? Hmmmm, maybe a young Sam Elliot. Rocket was and will always be Pruit Taylor Vince in my mind. And Shemar Moore as Swopes. Yum!

RO: A treia mea intrebare este: Care e viziunea ta pentru Reyes si Charley? Vreun actor, model, obisnuit tip/tipa ? Am vrea sa avem o viziune a lui Reyes si Charley atunci cand citim cartile.

Noua mea Charley e defapt prietena cea mai buna din filmul Warm Bodies. Numele ei e Analeigh Tipton si chiar daca e putin cam tanara pentru rol, cred ca ar fi perfecta. Nu prea il vad pe Reyes ca un actor in mod concret, dar categoric il vad portretizat de Jason Behr. L-am avut in minte pentru scena cu liceul din First Grave. M-am tot gandit la asta si de obicei raspunsurile mele se schimba. Tyler Hoechlin ar fi o buna alegere de asemenea. Intotdeauna mi-am imaginat-o pe Cookie ca Melissa McCarthy. Am inchipuit-o dupa Melissa atunci cand a jucat-o pe Sookie in Gilmore Girls si de atunci mi-a fost greu sa ma gandesc la altcineva. Donovan? Hmmmm, poate un tanar Sam Elliot. Rocket a fost si va fi mereu Pruit Taylor Vince in mintea mea. Si Shemar Moore ca Swopes. Yum!
