(The Times Literary Supplement)
(George R.R. Martin)
Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are behind this adaptation of Terry Brooks' epic fantasy book series (drawing mainly from the second novel in the trilogy, The Elfstones of Shannara). Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Jonathan Liebesman (taking over from Jon Favreau, who remains as producer) directs the two-hour premiere, which was filmed on location in New Zealand

Season 2 debuts January 6 on ABC
After winning an Oscar for his 12 Years a Slave screenplay, John Ridley returned to TV with American Crime, an anthology series that earned the praise of critics in its debut season. This second season (which temporarily displacesNashville on Wednesday nights) reboots the series with a new setting and story—involving a sexual assault scandal that ensnares two Indiana high schools—but returns much of last year's cast, including Felicity Huffman, Regina King, Timothy Hutton, and Lili Taylor. They're joined by newcomers including Hope Davis and OutKast's Andre Benjamin.

3. Todd Margaret
Season 3 debuts January 7 on IFC

Co-stars Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe), Blake Harrison, and Will Arnett return, joined by Jack McBrayer.

A sexy book about two seventeen-year-olds—one a victim of human trafficking; the other the son of the man who enslaved her—who fall in love and question everything they ever believed…
Haven Antonelli and Carmine DeMarco grew up under vastly different circumstances. Haven, a second-generation slave, was isolated in the middle of the desert, her days full of hard work and terrifying abuse. Carmine, born into a wealthy Mafia family, lived a life of privilege and excess.
Now, a twist of fate causes their worlds to collide. Entangled in a web of secrets and lies, they learn that while different on the surface, they have more in common than anyone would think.
In a world full of chaos, where money and power rule, Haven and Carmine yearn to break free, but a string of events that began before either of them were born threatens to destroy them instead. Murder and betrayal are a way of life, and nothing comes without a price—especially not freedom. But how much will they have to sacrifice? Can they escape their pasts? And, most of all, what does it mean to be free?
Juliette Romero had a debt to pay, a debt that wasn’t even hers. But it was the only way to keep her family safe and all she had to do was sell her body and soul to the devil.
Killian McClary wasn’t called the Scarlet Wolf for nothing. He’d been the head of the McClary Organization since he was fifteen and had built a reputation for being a ruthless son of a bitch when it came to running the city’s underbelly, not to mention merciless when it came to punishing those who betray him. He didn’t believe in weaknesses. Only results. Juliette, with her shy smiles and hot little body was a weakness unlike any other and yet he was powerless to resist one more taste of her sweet flesh.
Two: Become his for a year.
When given the choice between her life or her body, what could Juliette possibly do, but submit to a man whose very name invoked fear in the hearts of others? She just never anticipated falling for his dark, hungry eyes and clever hands, or the way the beast in him made her feel oddly safe and cherished.
But what will happen when Killian’s dark past finally catches up to him and threatens the woman he can no longer imagine himself without? What will happen when both sides find themselves caught in a web of passion, lies and broken promises? Can Juliette tame the wolf or will her love for him devour them both? Three: Don’t fall in love.
Boundaries will be crossed, loyalties will be tested and lives will be changed forever.
